Food & Beverage Assistant Manager

Location: Stockwood Discovery Centre, Luton (with regular travel to The Hat Factory and Wardown House Museum)

Salary: £30,024 per annum

Contract: Full-time – 37 hours, Fixed term to 31st March 2027

About the role:

Are you an experienced hospitality professional with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy supporting teams to deliver outstanding food, beverage and event services? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and commercially minded Food & Beverage Assistant Manager to support the delivery of our food, beverage, retail and events operations across Luton Culture venues. Working closely with the Head of Commercial & Operations and the Cluster Manager, you will help ensure that our cafés, bars, retail spaces and event catering services deliver excellent service, strong commercial performance and memorable visitor experiences.

This is a varied operational role with responsibility for supporting the day-to-day running of food and beverage services, supervising front-line teams and coordinating hospitality provision for events, weddings, corporate hires and community activities. You'll help drive high standards of quality, presentation and customer service whilst ensuring compliance with food safety, health and safety and licensing requirements.

You will also support stock control, supplier management and budget monitoring, whilst helping to develop attractive and relevant food, beverage and retail offers that appeal to our diverse audiences. A key part of the role will be identifying opportunities to grow income, improve efficiency and enhance the overall visitor experience.

About you:

You will have substantial experience working within a food and beverage, hospitality, retail or commercial environment, together with a proven track record of supporting successful and profitable operations. Experience of supervising teams, coordinating events and working with budgets, KPIs and EPOS systems is essential.

You will be highly organised, customer focused and confident managing multiple priorities within a busy operational setting. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are important, as is the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, suppliers, clients and external partners.

We are looking for someone who brings energy, initiative and commercial awareness, alongside a commitment to delivering inclusive, high-quality hospitality experiences. An interest in arts, culture and heritage, or experience within the charitable sector, would be advantageous.

About us:
