Head Gardener
£30,024 per annum
Full time – 37 hours per week
Mainly weekdays with some evenings and weekends required
About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Head Gardener to lead the management and development of the gardens and grounds at Stockwood Discovery Centre, one of Luton Culture’s flagship heritage sites.
Working as part of the Operations team, you will oversee day-to-day horticultural activity, supervise external contractors and volunteers, and ensure the gardens are maintained to the highest standards of conservation, safety and presentation. You will contribute to site management plans, projects and displays, and help create welcoming, accessible green spaces that enhance the visitor experience.
The role also includes supporting public engagement through talks, workshops and events, and working collaboratively across the Trust to deliver creative and sustainable horticultural initiatives.
About you:
You will have demonstrable horticultural experience, supported by RHS Level 3 (or equivalent), with strong knowledge of plant husbandry and best practice. Experience of supervising staff, contractors or volunteers is essential, as is a commitment to health and safety, equality and excellent customer experience.
You’ll be flexible, organised and happy to work across Trust sites when required. A full driving licence is essential.
