Utter Lutonia! Presents: Kat Joyce & John Hinton

As the end of the last year of the first quarter of the current century approaches it’s time to take stock, make soup and sup together to keep warm.  A year of challenge and change sputters into its dotage aand yet UTTER! Lutonia yet sustains the kindness, extends the commitment, spreads it’s metaphors ever more widely and, vitally, keeps it peculiar and stands firm in the (re)storm – nil carborundum etc...

This era ends with:

Kat Joyce

John Hinton

As ever, hosting and vibe-wrangling comes from Lee Nelson, sounds and grooves originate in Steve Whiting and, under the calm, professional bookseller that is Andy Kingston, we will also have the almost legendary Clod Magazine Bookstall upon which (amongst other things) you may be fortunate enough to seek to purchase works by the above listed artists . . .

Bio

Kat Joyce presents ‘Contingent’

Kat Joyce, co-artistic director of the astonishing Tangled Feet theatre company (“Tangled Feet offer a glimpse of magic” – Lyn Gardner, The Guardian) presents the debut of her first full-length solo spoken-word show, and UTTER! Lutonia are beyond proud to be the platform she has chosen.

In 2021 Kat’s immune system went rogue and tried to kill her.

600 hours/several gallons of chemotherapy and a full system reboot later, she’s feeling…..contingent.

Kat is usually found directing, not performing, and this is her exploration of recovery and self-determination.  Kat delves into, under through the idea of ‘Progression Free Survival’ leaving a trail of unwanted silver linings.

John Hinton

John sits at the synapse twixt science, song and spoken stuff. His subjects, some sensible, some silly, some say, stretch from the stock to the stellar. He is the brawn behind intergalactic pop compo Spalien Acecraft, and alongside his work with Luton-based theatre company Tangled Feet, is the world's only known Ensonglopedian. This will be his first Utter!.
