WHO can take part?
Any adults, anywhere on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum are welcome to share something from your youth on the mic at Queer Diary!
You donāt have to be a performer - many readers have never done anything like this before.
WHAT can I share?
ā” QUEER? = LGBTQIA+ people on stage. Your material doesnāt have to be āqueer themedā - lots of us didnāt know we were back then. Weāve had people read about favourite TV shows, a school trip, even a ghost story!
ā” TEENAGE? = Anything from your coming-of-age era (usually teens, but can be younger/older - whatever ācoming-of-ageā means to you!)
ā” ļøDIARIES? Yes, but not only diaries! We also welcome poetry, fanfiction or short stories, homework, old online posts, letters, messages - whatever you wrote back then š
WHY would I do it?
Itās fun! Queer Diary is a friendly, supportive, joyful bonding experience.
Host @bethwhatcanido has been reading teenage diaries on stage since 2018, and created this event for LGBTQIA+ people to feel safe sharing our memories in a community space.
HOW does it work?
