Hats Made Me...Inspired

The Culture Trust Luton is proud to announce its collaboration with Morley College London. Morley Millinery students feature in the satellite display Hats Made Me…Inspired that ties in with our major headwear exhibition Hats Made Me, both curated by the Culture Trust’s Yona Lesger. Among dozens of other hats by renowned contemporary milliners, you will find work by Morley Millinery lecturers Vesna Pesic and Sarah Lomax of Lomax & Skinner Bespoke Millinery in Hats Made Me.

The Morley Millinery students visited the Culture Trust and delved into the history of the Luton hat industry and had the opportunity to closely examine precious hats from the Trust's collection. This experience served as a rich source of inspiration for their own creations.

Under the guidance of their talented lecturers, Vesna Pesic and Sarah Lomax, the millinery students have meticulously researched hats and periods that ignited their creativity. They have explored specialist materials, techniques, and processes, paying special attention to working with sustainable materials and adopting sustainable practices. This dedication to sustainability aligns with the fashion industry's growing focus on environmentally-responsible approaches.

Hats Made Me…Inspired showcases the students’ exceptional craftsmanship, historical influences, and commitment to sustainability. Through their unique creations, they pay homage to the thriving contemporary hat culture while adding their own innovative twists.

Open on Saturday 22nd July and 5th August 2023 11am - 4pm. Closed on all other weekend dates
