Heritage Open Days: Tour of Wardown House, Museum and Galleries
Sunday 13th September 2026 & Sunday 20th September
Join us at Wardown House, Museum & Gallery for a special programme celebrating Luton Borough’s 150th anniversary.
We will begin at 11:30am with two talks entitled Luton 150: Stories from the Town 1876-2026 presented by local heritage specialists. Paul Hammond will discuss the history of Luton Borough, including the development of Wardown Park. Nigel Lutt will share insights into the history and significance of the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Regiment collection. The talks will conclude with an audience Q&A session. In the afternoon, visitors are invited to take part in two guided tours:
- Wardown House Tour (30 minutes), led by Nigel Lutt, who will guide you through the building's fascinating history since its construction in 1877. Tours run at 1.30pm, 2.15pm and 3.00pm.
- Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment Galleries Tour (30 minutes), led by volunteer experts who will introduce you to the stories represented in the displays and the objects in the collection. Tours run at 1.30pm, 2.15pm and 3.00pm. Click here to book your space
