Trans Day of Remembrance Vigil feat. India's 1st Best Trans Model Agency Screening
Pride in Luton and Luton Trans+Admin invite you as we come together to honour and remember the trans and gender-diverse people whose lives have been lost to anti-trans violence, discrimination and hate.
The vigil is a space for reflection, solidarity, and love – a moment to say the names of those no longer with us, and to hold space for those still fighting to live freely and safely today.
As we remember those we’ve lost, we also pay tribute to the generations of trans people who have come before us — the activists, artists, organisers, and everyday heroes who fought for the rights, visibility, and community we have today. Their courage continues to light the path forward.
Around the world — and here at home — trans people still face discrimination, barriers to healthcare, and hostility in public life. We will stand together as a community to remember the work that still needs to be done.
After the vigil, we invite you to stay for a special screening of India’s First Trans Model Agency — a powerful and uplifting documentary filmed over seven years, following Rudrani Chettri and her friends on an extraordinary journey from baby blessings, red light districts and dazzling Hindu festivals to the glamorous world of photoshoots, designers, and electrifying catwalks.
Far from a story of suffering, this film celebrates the resilience, creativity, and joy of India’s Hijra (transgender) community as they build the country’s first-ever trans modelling agency and stage a paradigm-shifting fashion event. It’s a moving exploration of identity, tradition, love, and pride — and a reminder of the beauty and strength that exists within trans communities worldwide.
