Soul Cine: Film in Perspective: The Blackening

SOUL:CINÉ bi-monthly cinema club, is for film lovers to forge friendships, old & new, whilst basking in the glow and wonder of Black Cinema, in the heart of Luton’s cultural quarter.

Fancy Dress Screening: The Blackening + Short Film
Director: Tim Story / 2022 / USA / Duration: 97min

Reuniting for a Juneteenth weekend in the woods (I know, right!) a group of friends suddenly find themselves trying to escape every horror trope and stereotype thrown at them.  Forced to face life, death, and identity decisions, the group navigate friendship and suspicion, to survive and answer the question, if the entire cast of a horror movie is Black, who dies first?

Directed by Tim Story (Think Like A Man, Barbershop) and co-written by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip) and Dewayne Perkins, The Blackening is a hilarious horror satire for the ages.

As a special SOUL;CINÉ thank you, our screening of THE BLACKENING is free. The night will be extra special so dress up as your favourite or most feared horror character to win special prizes and giveaways for the best costumes on the night.
