Queer Diaries Open Mic Night

Would YOU read your Teenage Diary to a live audience?

Queer Diary is the night where queers share REAL teenage diaries, plus long-lost love-letters, fabulous fan-fiction, terrible tumblr posts, and the odd bit of cringey poetry 🌈📖

We can't promise to reunite you with your first crush, but we do aim to reignite that rush of adrenaline you got when they first noticed you!

Up for sharing something from your youth? Our mic is open. Get in touch here: bit.ly/queerdiary

A space to look back on our formative years with laughter and kindness… Often funny, sometimes moving and heart-warming, always entertaining

If a Queer Diary event was scheduled on the Moon, the most anti-capitalist queers would be befriending Bezos in hopes of securing a rocket ride

FAQ

WHO can take part?

Any adults, anywhere on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum are welcome to share something from your youth on the mic at Queer Diary!

You don’t have to be a performer - many readers have never done anything like this before.

WHAT can I share?

➡ QUEER? = LGBTQIA+ people on stage. Your material doesn’t have to be ‘queer themed’ - lots of us didn’t know we were back then. We’ve had people read about favourite TV shows, a school trip, even a ghost story!

➡ TEENAGE? = Anything from your coming-of-age era (usually teens, but can be younger/older - whatever “coming-of-age” means to you!)

➡ ️DIARIES? Yes, but not only diaries! We also welcome poetry, fanfiction or short stories, homework, old online posts, letters, messages - whatever you wrote back then 👀

WHY would I do it?

It’s fun! Queer Diary is a friendly, supportive, joyful bonding experience.

Host @bethwhatcanido has been reading teenage diaries on stage since 2018, and created this event for LGBTQIA+ people to feel safe sharing our memories in a community space.

HOW does it work?

Sign up using our short form, or email the @hasbianshow team.

Beth or Josie will get in touch to chat about the night, and reserve you a spot on the mic.

Can I just join the audience?

YES! Queer Diary needs an audience!
