Heritage Lates

This September to celebrate Heritage Open Days and Luton's rich history and culture we present an evening of thought-provoking, locally relevant exhibitions, music and talks from some of Luton's creative community.

An Inherited Heritage: Industrial architectural fragments and collective memories.
An exhibition exploring the implications of Luton’s rich industrial heritage on the current built fabric and the local community’s collective memories, aiming to bring to the forefront minor and hidden histories, curated by Aisha Hassan, a student at the internationally renowned Bartlett School of Architecture.

DJ in the Hat Factory Café
DJ Jazzy Vibes (aka Niv Hammond) will be laying down the tracks every third Thursday of the month making his debut right here at Heritage Lates.

Heritage Digital VJ-ing
Accompanying the DJ in the Hat Factory cafe, local artist (and Hat District Creative Pioneer), Jakub Rokita will perform a video-mixing programme using vintage moving and still images: bringing archival material from 19th and 20th century to create a nostalgic visual poem about the town's modern history and its rich heritage.

Who are you really?
After the success of its debut in May, Holding Space Collective are offering another opportunity to experience their unique video exhibition exploring how we see our identity and what/who has affected the formation of it.

Departure Lounge: On the Wings of a Wirebird
Departure Lounge Gallery will be opening their brand new exhibition 'On the Wings of a Wirebird' by local multi-disciplinary artist Sophie Greswell. The exhibition explores Sophie's interconnected heritage and her ancestry which spans several countries and continents to reach us here in Luton.

On the Wings of a Wirebird: Round Table (7pm - 8pm)
Join local artist Sophie Greswell for an evening of discussion reclaiming the term ‘British’ by sharing histories, narratives and perspectives, aiming to connect rather than categorise then explore her exhibition across the road.
