Rainy Days, Mondays and Good Old Dreams
Step into the golden glow of the 1970s as Rainy Days, Mondays & Good Old Dreams brings the poignant music and captivating story of Karen and Richard Carpenter to life — not as a tribute act, but as a heartfelt homage performed with depth, care, and a deep personal connection.
Singer and storyteller Kerry Le Bern lovingly recreates the soulful sound of Karen Carpenter, interpreting her unique vocal style with warmth and authenticity. Backed by the superb Jambalaya Band, Kerry takes audiences on a rich emotional journey — from the Carpenters’ early struggles to their rise to international fame, and ultimately to the personal battles behind their public success.
“I adored the Carpenters from an early age,” says Kerry. “In the 1970s I would pretend I was Karen, singing along to Close to You on my trusty cassette player. Her voice spoke to something deep in me, and it still does.”
But this is more than nostalgia. With meticulous storytelling and musical nuance, the show delves into the duo’s influences — from The Beatles to Burt Bacharach — and the perfectionism, pressure, and emotional costs that shaped their work.
“I want to bring something very special to audiences with this show,” Kerry explains. “I want people to hear Karen’s voice through mine, but also to walk away saying ‘how different,’ ‘how fascinating,’ or ‘I didn’t know that.’ It’s about honouring their music and their journey.”
At one moment, you’ll find yourself tapping your toes and singing along; in the next, you may be wiping away a tear. Rainy Days, Mondays & Good Old Dreams is a rare blend of performance and portrait — a celebration of artistry, vulnerability, and timeless melody.
“This music has shaped who I am,” Kerry reflects. “It’s an echo from the past that still touches people now. That’s what I hope to share — not just the songs, but the story and the soul behind them.”
Expect to sing. Expect to feel. Expect to remember.
