Music in the Museum: Classical (November)
A Classical music performance taking place in Wardown House, Museum and Gallery's stunning Drawing Room - surrounded by the museum's unique art collection and with spectacular views overlooking Wardown Park.
A unique Concert showcasing the soothing and sonorous sounds of two cellos and the amazing music written for this unique combination. The performance features internationally renowned cellists Sebastian Comberti and Sarah Butcher

About the Musicians
Sarah Butcher
Sarah Butcher, cello
Sarah studied cello at the GSMD with Stefan Popov and took part in masterclasses with William Pleeth at the Aldeburgh Summer School. She has played in the BBCSO, The Guildhall String Ensemble, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Peter Gabriel’s New Blood Orchestra, Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, ETO, Garsington Opera and Glyndebourne Touring Opera Orchestra (principal cello). She is a member of the London Mozart Players. In 2016 she formed period group The Bach Camerata which has performed in St Albans Abbey and the Barbican.
She has made recordings for the Cello Classics label; Music for Two Cellos, Julius Klengel: A Celebration and 'Petits Fours'; music for four cellos with the London Mozart Players cello section. A keen chamber musician, she has played with the Mistry String Quartet, Mainardi Trio and period group The Revolutionary Drawing Room. She founded The Chamber Players in 2006 which performed in UK festivals and music clubs all over the UK.
Sarah also edits audiobooks for the Naxos AudioBooks label, projects including The History of Classical Music and Famous Composers in collaboration with Classic FM. She has performed on several of these discs including The Cellist of Sarajevo and Macbeth with music by Oscar-winning composer Stephen Warbeck.
Sebastian Comberti
Sebastian Comberti was born in London and studied in Italy with Amedeo Baldovino and later with Derek Simpson and Sidney Griller at the Royal Academy of Music. He was a founder member of the Bochmann Quartet until 1983 when he became principal cello with the London Mozart Players, a position he continues to hold.
A keen interest in historically informed performance has resulted in participation with a great many of London’s period instrument groups, appearing as principal cello and soloist with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Hanover Band.
As a member of several chamber groups, including Trio Goya and Divertimenti Ensemble he has recorded for CRD, EMI, Harmonia Mundi, Hyperion, Meridian, Phoenix and RCA and CPO.
In April 2001 Sebastian founded the Cd label Cello Classics, devoted to recordings of rare repertoire and historical recordings, himself releasing several CDs of sonatas by Boccherini, Stephen Paxton, early 19th Century works with fortepiano, and concertos by Haydn and Zumsteeg with the OAE.
