Today is Ghana’s 63rd Independence Anniversary. Formally the Gold Cost, Ghana is well known for its warm and hospitable people, its export of cocoa and great mineral resource.
We are celebrating the occasion with a showcase of Ghana’s rich and vibrant cultural heritage focusing on the symbolic Royal Kente cloth.
This small collection is from the personal collection of Nana Abena Asantewaa I Kente Queenmother (Cllr Maria Lovell Deputy Mayor of Luton)
The exhibit offers an insight into the full regalia of traditional outfits, gold jewellery and traditional beads are worn gracefully in pomp by Kings and Queen mothers of Ghana in beautifully handcrafted vibrant designs and colours of the rich Kente cloth.
We would like to say thank you to the Ghana Society UK in Luton and Cllr Maria Lovell for their help and collaboration.
