Artist of the Month - July 2026

Featuring Ragavee: Bold illustrations, printmaking, heritage & identity
2 Jul 2026, 12:45pm

Ragavee joined our Creative Pioneers programme with a passion for celebrating culture, identity and community through art. Over the past year, she has continued to develop her creative practice, exploring new techniques while sharing her work with audiences across Luton.

Working across both printmaking and digital illustration, Ragavee creates bold, vibrant artwork inspired by her British and Tamil-Sri Lankan heritage. Drawing on cultural and social themes from both South Asian and British perspectives, her playful use of colour and pattern celebrates identity, heritage and everyday life. Through her work, she continues to reconnect with her family's Tamil-Sri Lankan roots while amplifying stories and voices that deserve to be seen and heard.

During the programme, Ragavee collaborated with the Hat Factory for the South Asian Heritage Month exhibition Border Light: Where Cultures Meet and Radiate, creating a community saree celebrating shared cultures and experiences. She also led public woodblock printing workshops, inviting participants to design and print their own South Asian-inspired block stamps.

Continuing to grow her creative practice, Ragavee is currently collaborating with Wardown House and Luton Women's Aid, delivering woodblock printing workshops that will culminate in an exhibition showcasing participants' handcrafted table settings and decorated pieces.
