Chalk Line Young Writers

Chalk Line Theatre are launching an 8 week young people’s writing collective for 14-25 year olds in Luton. This programme is in partnership with The Hat Factory Arts Centre and supported by Next Generation Youth Theatre.

Join Chalk Line Theatre's Co-Artistic Directors, Sam Edmunds and Vikesh Godhwani, for a series of workshops which will explore different styles of creative writing for theatre. 

The sessions will be relaxed and informal and you do not need any previous experience in writing or theatre. This is a great chance for you to meet new people from your area and be creative. 

At the end of the 8 week programme, the aim is that you will have written a short monologue, duologue, or scene which will be performed by local emerging actors in a showcase event at The Hat Factory Arts Centre on May 31st. Each piece will also be directed by an emerging local director under guidance from Sam and Vikesh. 

You do not need to take part in the showcase event in order to attend sessions but the more you can commit to the programme the more you will gain out of it. For those that do commit to the showcase event you will need to be free on May 30th and May 31st as outlined below.

This programme is suitable for anyone aged 14-25 living in Luton or surrounding areas. As spaces are limited please do sign up as quickly as you can.

We will aim to let you know if you have a place in the group by April 11th. Application submission closes at 10am April 11th.

Structure: 
Tuesday 17th April 6pm-8pm (first session). 
Weekly sessions on a Wednesday evening weekly from 23rd April-21st May 6pm-8pm.  Rehearsal Day on 30th May 9am-3pm. 
Tech/Performance Day 31st May 1pm-6pm.
