Glyn Dillon: from Comics, to Film and Fine Art
Glyn Dillon talks about his work as an award winning comic artist, story boarder, and more recently as a costume designer for the Star Wars films, and The Batman – creating Robert Pattison’s new batsuit. In this one-off special, Glyn will talk through his career, early inspirations, and the impact his brother’s (comic artist Steve Dillon) work, and untimely death in 2016, had on him.
Before his work as a celebrated costume designer, Glyn created the award winning graphic novel ‘The Nao of Brown’ for which he won 'Best Book' category at the 'British Comic Awards. Translated into six languages, the French edition, ‘Le Nao de Brown’ also garnered him the 2013 'Special Jury Prize' at the world renowned 'Angoulême International Comics Festival'. He had his first London solo exhibition, entitled ‘Who Am I Now?’ in May 2022, which featured a collection of oil paintings, all reflecting on the impact of his brother’s death.
Fom 2 June – 7 July, The Culture Trust is exhibiting Steve Dillon’s work in a new exhibition at Hat House basement. Steve was a British comic book artist from Luton who is best known for his work on Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, Hellblazer, Punisher and Preacher.
