Five Week Introduction to Studio Practice with Yva Jung

Join in our HATCH workshops with established artists to learn new skills, creative techniques, and make your own art.

Introduction to Studio Practice is designed to develop your creative awareness and understanding of contemporary art practice. On this course, you will experience a wide range of media including drawing, collage and sculpture.

You will have an opportunity to try a range of techniques and materials including compressed charcoal, gouache and wires on various surfaces as well as translate and re-interpret the works of other contemporary artists. Participants will be challenged to transform their own work from 2D to 3D, from 3D back to 2D again to evolve it into a new form each time. The sessions will end with a short critique of the work where the participants can share feedback and receive one to one input from the workshop leader.

The intention of each activity is to exercise the creative process while working on skills that form a creative studio practice. The basic skills required for carrying out the tasks will be demonstrated by the leader and guidance given throughout the sessions.
