Stopsley Library

Stopsley Library will be closed on Friday 21st February 10.00am – 1.00pm for maintenance. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Serving the community with a smile, Stopsley Library is located on Hitchin Road, next door to Tesco Express.

We have a great selection of both fiction and non-fiction, as well as an array of newspapers and magazines. However, if you can’t find what you’re looking for our library staff will be very happy to help. There are free computers available for you to use and WiFi to connect to your devices. We also regularly host activities for children and families, including Bookstart Rhyme Time and Homework Club.

Regular activities for children

Bookstart Rhyme Time

For babies, toddlers and grown-ups to enjoy rhymes, music and stories together. Duration: 30 mins. Term time only.

Wednesday: 9.30am to 10am

Thursday: 2.15pm to 2.45pm

Homework Help

Homework Helpers are available on Saturdays to help children with their learning logs, giving them the confidence and skills to complete their homework for themselves. Term time only.

Saturday: 10am to 1pm

The Library Games

Including Code Green and LEGO™ Takeover. For children 8+ to play games, try their hand at coding and make things from LEGO™

Tuesda:, 4pm to 5pm

Stopsley Library is fully accessible and located on the ground floor. There is a ramp up to the entrance and automatic doors. A hearing loop is also available.

There is limited free car parking available at the front of the library and on nearby roads. 


Take the 12 or 101 from Luton Town Centre.

Library visits for schools

We offer free visits for every Luton school to get their early years, Key stage 1 and 2 pupils reading and give them:

  • Information on how to join the library
  • A guide on how to get the best out of their library and its services
  • Time to explore and choose books to borrow

We'd love to welcome you to our libraries or bring the library to your school to encourage your pupils to gain a lifelong love of reading for pleasure and learning.
